The Evangelist is one of the “…gifts…” given by The Lord for the “…edifying…” of His kind of Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Churches. God’ Spirit calls these choice servants out from a Baptist Church to be helpers in the strengthening of the people in other Baptist Churches in “…the work of the ministry…” Although they do not hold an “…office…” of leadership or oversight in the structure of The Lord’s Churches; their purpose parallels that of a Pastor in many ways. If we do not understand the place, the roll, and “…the work of an evangelist…” the People and the Pastors of our kind of Baptist Churches may be missing something The Lord wants for us.
